RALEIGH, N.C. --
Governor Pat McCrory's Secretary of the Department of Public Safety announced Tuesday he's taking a temporary leave of absence from his law firm.
Critics had questioned why the secretary continued to do work for the Shanahan Law Group while working as a public servant.
"I am thankful that my clients and my friends at Shanahan Law Group are providing me the opportunity to serve this great state," said Shanahan in a statement.
