Month after month, the owner kept saying it would be done. But fast forward to May 2013, which is 18 months later, and the classic car still wasn't ready.
I paid a visit to G&S and talked with owner Wayne Goss, who admitted that the restoration job has taken too long. I asked him if the car would ever be finished.
"Yeah, I wouldn't do him that way. He's a really nice guy and he doesn't deserve this," Wayne said. "To be honest with you, I'm as embarrassed as I could be over this car because this is the worst car I've had you know in all the years I've been in business."
Wayne told me he needed just one more day to finish the car. A week later it still wasn't done. He said he needed another week and he guaranteed the car would be complete.
A week later, I paid another visit to G&S Auto Body with James and this time James got a big surprise. His 1967 Pontiac Bonneville was all shiny and new, a look James had been waiting for.
"I hate that it took this long, but I wanted you to have a good job no matter how long it took," Wayne said.
Wayne told me it took so long because he had a tough time finding the parts for a four-door Pontiac Bonneville. He said if it was a two-door there was no problem, but the four-door parts made it very challenging.
Now James is excited to show off his classic beauty.
"It came out like a new car. I'm grateful for you all. I'm very pleased with the way it turned out. Thank you a million plus," James said.
