Fight at Hope Mills Middle School caught on tape

HOPE MILLS, N.C.

The fight was posted on YouTube. The video has since been removed.

Officials told ABC11 that the fight broke out Thursday. For 10 to 15 seconds, both girls were throwing punches. At first, other students stood by and watched the fight, and then several students and teachers rushed in to separate the two girls.

A Cumberland County Sheriff's deputy who is the school's resource officer also tried to help break up the fight, but turned his ankle and fell, hitting his head on the pavement.

A sheriff's department spokeswoman said the deputy was taken the hospital and checked out. He wasn't seriously hurt.

The two girls face juvenile affray or fighting in public charges. School officials haven't said what punishment the girls could face for fighting on school grounds.
