Cumberland County deputies have charged a Fayetteville mother with injuring her young son on two separate occasions.

Officials said 33-year old Teresa Marie Fowler, of 1411 Jim Johnson Road was charged in 2009 with felony child abuse inflicting serious injury, after she hit her 4-year old child with a vacuum cleaner attachment. The child was left with a laceration on the top of his head, requiring staples.

The latest charge stems from an incident in March of this year. Fowler is charged with misdemeanor child abuse, after she allegedly struck her child in the face with a video game controller.  He suffered a small laceration and a black eye. He was 8 years old at the time of the crime.

Fowler was released from the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $2,000 unsecured bond.  She will make a first court appearance on Monday.
