Walter Bryant, 93, will play taps on a ceremonial bugle as a tribute to veterans in Sampson County.
Bryant served in the Pacific during World War II. He started performing with a ceremonial bugle when his VFW post bought it 15 years ago. The brass instrument has an electronic insert that plays the notes.
Bryant plays Thursday at Royal Lane Park as part of Clinton's July 4th celebration. He's been a part of the community's tribute for the past ten years.
Bryant says Independence Day is one of his most cherished times. He is honored to be a part of the celebration, and he has no plans to stop anytime soon.
