Disabled man left in van

APEX, N.C.

Around 3:17 p.m. on July 5, 35-year-old Curtis Williams was found in the van outside a group home in the 300 block of N. Mason Street - apparently suffering from possible heat stroke.

Police said Williams was in a party of group home residents who were taken to Fuquay Varina for a work assignment around 9 a.m. that morning. The group home employees did not notice that Williams did not get off the bus at the assignment, and the van was returned to Apex.

When the next shift came in at 3 p.m., and went to use the van to pick up the residents, they found Williams and called 911.

Police said they discussed the incident with the Wake County District Attorney's Office before announcing no charges will be filed.
