Car, tree burst into flames after accident

A car burst into flames Thursday night when the driver hit a tree in front of a Johnston County hospital.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. on Highway 42 West.

The driver was able to escape from the wreckage with minor injuries and before the car caught the tree on fire.

The fiery crash blocked the entrance to Johnston Medical Center of Clayton for about 30 minutes as fire crews battled the blaze.

Further details about the accident have not been released.
