Raleigh police said 22-year-old Tyeqauze Damar O'Neall was driving west on East Millbrook Road when his Toyota Camry spun out and crossed the center line, hitting a PT Cruiser head on.

The accident happened around 8:20 p.m.

According to a police report, O'Neal was going 80 mph in a 35 mph zone when he lost control of his vehicle. Police said the driver of the PT Cruiser, 19-year-old Mackenzie Moore, was not speeding. Both vehicles traveled over 20 feet after impact.

O'Neal's nephew, 7-year-old Kyrail McLean, was a passenger in O'Neal's car and died at the scene. Authorities said McLean was the only person involved in the crash who was not wearing a seatbelt.

O'Neal died of his injuries later at WakeMed.

According to a family-friend, O'Neal had just picked up McLean from basketball practice before the crash.

O'Neal's other passenger, 22-year-old Dominique King, is listed in good condition at WakeMed.

Moore is listed in fair condition, also at WakeMed. Her passenger, 14-year-old Savannah Astheimer, is in good condition.

Authorities are awaiting toxicology report to determine is alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.

In a 911 call released by police, the caller described a mangled car on fire that was smashed in half.

East Millbrook Road was shut down for almost four hours as police investigated. It reopened around 12:30 a.m.
