Driver charged with DWI in fatal Wilson crash

WILSON, N.C.

The accident happened around 5 p.m. Friday at Hines and Manchester Streets.

Wilson police said 20-year-old Semeer Patel, of Goldsboro ran a stop sign at Manchester Street and collided with a truck with three people inside.

The driver of the Toyota Truck was 48-year-old Samantha Colvin, of Wilson. Officials said she was killed in the crash. Colvin's mother and daughter were her passengers and were injured.

Twenty-one-year-old Maryse Colvin was treated at Wilson Memorial Hospital and released.

Sixty-seven-year-old Martha Hinnant suffered serious injuries and has been airlifted to Vidant Medical Center.

Patel was charged with DWI and involuntary manslaughter, among other charges. He is being held in the Wilson County Jail under $25,000 bond.
