Worker dies after fall from cell tower in Harnett County

COATS, N.C.

It happened around 5:20 p.m. in the 1200 block of N.C. Highway 55 East, which is just south of Coats.

Authorities identified the man as 49-year-old John Dailey, of Silvester, Ga.

They said Dailey was 200 feet from the ground when he lost his balance while attempting to hook a carabiner on his safety harness to the tower.

Dailey was an employee of Transmit PM LLC of Duxbury, Mass.

Dailey's body was transported to Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital.

A resident who lives nearby told ABC11 that he had seen workers on the tower for several days.
