Hairston says he'll play when suspension is lifted

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.

Coach Roy Williams suspended 20-year-old Hairston indefinitely after the player had numerous run-ins with the law this summer.

Hairston was pulled over around in July and charged with speeding and careless and reckless driving on Interstate 85 near Salisbury.Troopers said Hairston was driving 93 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour zone. Hairston was also said to be weaving in and out of traffic.

In June, Hairston was arrested following a stop at a license check in Durham. According to court documents, charges for possession of marijuana and driving without a license were dropped after Hairston completed a drug assessment, as well as showed his current driver's license.

Hairston told the Daily Tar Heel Tuesday that he doesn't know the exact length of the suspension, but he added he will be ready when it is lifted.

A UNC team spokesman says there is no update on the junior's playing status.
