Health officials reported two more cases of rabies in bats Tuesday - bringing the total number of rabies cases in Cumberland County to 12 for the year.

The first bat was picked up in the 7100 block of Riddle Road, off of Yarborough Road, in St. Pauls tested positive.

A second collected Melvin Place off of Rosehill Road was inconclusive - but is being treated as a positive case.

It's the third rabies case this year in a bat picked up from Melvin Place, an apartment complex with many children.

Health Director Buck Wilson advised parents that if their child may have had contact with a bat during the last couple of days to call (910) 433-3707 immediately.
