Andrew Bajerski, of Murray Glen Drive in Cary, is charged with felony armed robbery. He faces a penalty of up to 13 years in jail if convicted.
Police said Bajerski came into the Fifth Third Bank at 7210 Tryon Road just after 11 a.m. and suggested he had a weapon. He fled on foot after getting cash.
No one was hurt and there were no customers in the bank at the time.
"We want to express our appreciation to the bank employees and security officers," said Capt. Don Hamilton with Cary's Criminal Investigations Unit. "This case was solved so quickly largely because of the excellent cooperation between the staff and our officers."
