October 4, 2013 5:52:28 PM PDT
Authorities at UNC-Chapel Hill have issued a crime alert on campus after three burglaries at the Ruffin Residence Hall.

All of the burglaries happened late Thursday night and early Friday morning.

Police say someone went into unlocked rooms on the third floor and took wallets, cash, credit cards and keys.

The school is deactivating any room keys that are missing.

Police say students should take extra precautions by making sure to keep room doors locked at all times, don't allow strangers to "piggy-back" through entrances to residence halls or any campus buildings, and call 911 immediately to report any and all suspicious activity on or near campus.

Anyone with information about these incidents is urged to call please call UNC Police Department at (919) 962-8100 or contact the Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crime Stoppers at (919) 942-7515.
