Apex police have arrested a 16-year-old who they say is responsible for recent car break-ins.

Early Monday morning, officers responded to a call of a car break-in at the Surrey Meadows subdivision. When they arrived at the scene, Daquan Rashaad Hinton was taken into custody.

Investigators say Hinton of Fuquay Varina faces nine counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and two counts of misdemeanor larceny.

Two stolen vehicles from Fuquay Varina were also recovered, including stolen property found inside the vehicles that are related to other vehicle break-ins in the Holly Springs area.

Police encourage the public to lock their vehicles.
