42 cats euthanized after being found in Holly Springs home

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C.

Police and animal control officers seized the sick and feral cats from a house in the 400 block of North Main Street last week.

Officers conducting a well being check say they smelled a foul odor coming from inside the house, and noticed vultures all around.

Authorities rescued 42 cats, but said they later had to be put down because of their conditions.

Charges are now pending against the homeowner, Sherry Underwood.
