Will could be motive in Knightdale murder

KNIGHTDALE, N.C.

Seanne Winters Barnette was named in that will, but her brother, who is now a suspect in her death, was left out.

Investigators are still being tight-lipped.  They haven't said what exactly they believe the motive is, however.

They have said that John Winters Jr. is their only suspect in the murder of his sister. Police found her body over the weekend at her apartment in Knightdale. She had been dead for a while.

According to a search warrant, an American flag was draped over her body.

The warrant says John Winters Jr. was found disoriented in his sister's car in Virginia, that's where he is now in custody.

He had been living on the streets in recent years according to several people who know him. They say when Seanne found out she took him in.

John Winters Jr., according to civil court records, was not included in his wealthy father's will.

John Winters Sr. died in 2004 and left all of his property to John Junior's other siblings and John Junior's son. Then, last year, the murder victim sued two of her sister's to remove them as trustees of the estate's trust fund.

Before it went to court the three siblings agreed to appoint a third party as trustee.

Right now, it's far from clear whether the will of Raleigh's first black city councilman played a role in the murder of his daughter and suspicion his son is the killer.

However, something investigators will look at.
