North Carolina teachers cancel walkout

RALEIGH, N.C.

Instead, they plan to join with The North Carolina Association of Educators for a "walk in." NCAE wants parents and lawmakers to come to North Carolina schools to see what teachers do firsthand, and to join the discussion of what changes need to be made to improve education.

Specifically, teachers mentioned a need for less standardized testing in schools. They say kids are subjected to excessive amounts of testing, to the point of distraction. Teachers and the NCAE also are calling for more to be done to retain quality teachers.

The walk in will be November 4. More at: www.ncae.org
