The company says it studied the nation's 100 largest metropolitan areas by median pay, cost of living, number of jobs, and the unemployment rate.
It defines high-paying jobs as managers, executives, software developers, engineers, lawyers, judges, doctors, surgeons and psychiatrists.

- San-Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, Calif.
- Houston-Sugarland-Baytown
- Austin-Round Rock, Texas
- Provo-Orem, Utah
- Ogden-Clearfield, Utah
- Raleigh-Cary
- Omaha-Council Bluffs, Nebraska-Iowa
- Des Moines-West Des Moines, Iowa
- Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue
