Alleged Wake County serial pizza parlor burglary suspects captured

CARY, N.C.

Since Oct. 20, the Town of Cary Police Department said a person had been breaking into the restaurants at night, usually between 1 and 2 a.m., through the back doors.

Police arrested Michael John Spero following another reported burglary in Raleigh early Monday morning. Rachael LaRocca was also arrested. She was driving a white Honda Civic at the scene.

According to arrest warrants, a detective doing surveillance followed Spero from Cary to the New York Pizza Restaurant on Western Boulevard and caught him leaving the restaurant through a back door, triggering an alarm.

Detectives reportedly discovered a crowbar, mallet, latex gloves and a bandana in the Civic.

Before that, the last burglary happened Wednesday night at New York Pizza in the Wellington Park Shopping Center, near Southwest Cary Parkway and Tryon Road.
