Authorities in Wake County have arrested two suspects in connection with at least five pizza place burglaries in the last two weeks.

Since Oct. 20, the Town of Cary Police Department said a person had been breaking into the restaurants at night, usually between 1 and 2 a.m., through the back doors.

Police arrested Michael John Spero following another reported burglary in Raleigh early Monday morning. Rachael LaRocca was also arrested. She was driving a white Honda Civic at the scene.

According to arrest warrants, a detective doing surveillance followed Spero from Cary to the New York Pizza Restaurant on Western Boulevard and caught him leaving the restaurant through a back door, triggering an alarm.

Detectives reportedly discovered a crowbar, mallet, latex gloves and a bandana in the Civic.

Before that, the last burglary happened Wednesday night at New York Pizza in the Wellington Park Shopping Center, near Southwest Cary Parkway and Tryon Road.

Roma's Italian Restaurant on North Harrison Avenue, Brooklyn Boys Pizzeria on Northwest Maynard Road, and Primo Pizza on Cary Towne Boulevard have all reported robberies where only cash was stolen from the store. Primo Pizza was robbed twice, according to officials.
