Pair arrested after Nash County robbery, chase, and crash

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.

Deputies said it began with an armed robbery at a Dollar General store in the 7800 block of Red Oak Blvd. Two men armed with a rifle came in and demanded cash from employees or they would start shooting.

While headed to the store, officials said a deputy spotted the getaway car on North Old Carriage Road and tried to stop it.

That started a high-speed chase that ended when the alleged robbers crashed on Hunter Hill Road at Green Hills Road.

One of the men was immediately arrested, but the driver fled on foot through the Bunn Farm subdivision. He was captured the next day.

Charged with armed robbery are 18-year-old Aldridge Robinson and 19-year-old Alvonta Speight - both of Rocky Mount.

Bond was set at $100,000.
