Marine charged with assaulting 2-month-old daughter

Onslow County deputies charged a man with assaulting his 2-month-old daughter.

Adam Kenneth Patten, 24 was taken into custody at Camp Lejeune Thursday afternoon.

Investigators said he seriously injured the baby on four separate occasions between Sept. 29 and Oct. 19.

According to officials, the child suffered a fractured elbow and foot while being taken out of a car seat. Patten also allegedly fractured her ribs because he squeezed her too hard. Investigators say her feet and leg were injured while having her diaper changed.

WCTI reported that Patten is a marine stationed at Camp Lejeune.

Patten has been charged with four counts of felony child abuse inflicting serious physical injury and was placed in the Onslow County Jail under a $35,000 secured bond. Patten made his first court appearance Friday morning.
