Jose Luis Tovar Balencia faces a first degree murder charge.
Deputies say Balencia stabbed a man at a home in the 1800 block of Holland Road around 4 a.m. Sunday.
The sheriff's office found the victim after responding to an assault call.
The victim's identity has not yet been released.
Balencia is being held at the Wake County Detention Center without bond.
