The shooting happened Saturday around 1 a.m. at an apartment on the 100 block of Commerce Street in Durham.
Police say 27-year-old Darren Taylor was shot while sleeping in the apartment.
He was taken to the hospital and died on Wednesday from his injuries.
Durham police are still investigating the accident. No charges have been filed at last report.
