No one was injured and the leak was contained about an hour later.

Eleven businesses including the storage facility across from Dixie Pipeline, Ready Mix Concrete, Waffle House, Puryear Trucking, Bojangles, a gas station, and Apex Vet Hospital were all evacuated as a precaution.

A temporary shelter was set up at a nearby Comfort Inn, according to authorities.

Due to the leak, authorities closed NC-55 between US-1 and Technology Drive for about two hours. Officials also redirected traffic away from the area as they determined there were no lingering hazards associated with the leak.

Authorities said it was still unclear how the leak happened.
