Duke's Coach K released from hospital after feeling light-headed during game

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.

Duke Head Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski has been released from the hospital after feeling light headed and dizzy during Wednesday night's Blue Devils game against Wake Forest.

According to a statement from Duke Athletics, Coach K has "improved considerably."

During a timeout late in the game, Krzyzewski had to take a knee. Then, after Duke's 10-point loss, Krzyzewski went directly to the locker room to get checked out by the team's medical staff and missed a postgame news conference.

Associate Head Coach Steve Wojciechowski told reporters that the stresses of the game combined with his team's less than stellar performance probably just got the best of the Hall of Fame coach.

ESPN reported that Wojciechowski said the team medical staff advised Krzyzewski, 67, to remain in the locker room instead of speaking to reporters.

Coach K reportedly left the arena on his own, but later underwent precautionary tests at Duke University Hospital when he returned to Durham. He was then sent home early Thursday morning, according to a statement by the university.

Krzyzewski was a practice with his team Thursday evening with no ill effects.

Do not miss this weekend's match-up between Duke and UNC. Tip-off is Saturday at 9 p.m. on ABC11's sister station ESPN.
