Driver trapped after hitting tractor trailer truck in Durham

Authorities in Durham had to free a driver pinned in his car after he collided with a tractor trailer truck Friday morning.

It happened just after 6:30 a.m. on Carver Street.

Authorities said 24-year-old Steven Hall, of Cherrycrest Drive, ran a stop sign and hit the right side of the big rig.

Hall was trapped inside the car for 30 minutes as emergency crews worked to free him.

Carver Street was blocked off between N. Duke and Broad streets as emergency workers cleared the scene.

Hall was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the truck was treated for minor injuries.
