Judge Ned Mangum named as interim Wake D.A.

RALEIGH

Wake County District Court Judge Ned Mangum will serve as the temporary district attorney until January 1, 2015.

Current D.A. Colon Willoughby is stepping aside from the role at the end of the month. He has served as district attorney for nearly 30 years.

"Judge Ned Mangum will have some big shoes to fill, but we have no doubt that he will serve the people of North Carolina and Wake County very well," said McCrory. "I look forward to watching Ned serve with honor, dignity and the highest of ethical standards."

Voters will elect a new district attorney in November.

Mangum takes over after Willoughby's last day which is March 31.
