Police investigate suspicious package in Durham

Durham police and a bomb squad from the Durham County Sheriff's Office checked out a report of a suspicious package at the North Carolina Mutual building in the 400 block of West Chapel Hill Street Monday afternoon.

They closed Duke Street between Jackson Street and Chapel Hill Street. Chapel Hill Street was closed between Willard Street and Gregson Street.

Just after 4 p.m., police gave the all-clear and said no explosive was found.

Durham police say the item in question was a suitcase which contained clothing and computer.
