An inmate who escaped from Orange Correctional Center's minimum security unit Monday, is back in custody.

Prison officials and local law enforcement agencies were searching for40-year-old Kenneth Lussier of Durham after they said he walked away from an outside work assignment in Hillsborough Monday afternoon.

Lussier, who is serving 12 to 15 years for habitual felon, larceny and felony breaking and entering, later turned himself in to authorities around 11:30 p.m.

He is now in administrative segregation at Orange Correctional Center. He will face escape charges.

Before Monday's incident, Lussier was due for release in July 2015.
