It happened about 9:45 p.m. outside Mann Hall near Broughton Hall on campus.
The student told police he was sitting on some steps when a man walked up from behind, implied he had a gun, and robbed the student of his laptop.
The thief then ran away, heading north on Broughton Drive. No description of the man has been released.
The incident is currently under investigation.
