Cary shines on Fortune's Top 100 workplaces list

Cary is well represented on a Fortune list.

Two Cary-based companies, design consulting firm Kimley-Horn and software giant SAS, have landed in the Top 10 on Fortune's newest list of 100 best places to work.

Kimley-Horn is ranked No. 7, jumping into the Top 10 this year after being ranked 25th last year.

Fortune praising the company for its retirement compensation and its HoneyBaked Ham gift cards during the holidays, along with additional bonuses.

Senior VP and director of human resources Barry Barber told ABC11 the news is exciting and humbling, and added that it reinforces the company is on the right track.

SAS slipped four spots from last year, but it's the company's 13th Top 10 ranking on the list.

The well-known perks, including on-site child care, swimming pools, car detailing continue to help SAS land on the list for 19 years.

"We want the world to know that Cary is full of talented, committed people doing fantastic things in great businesses, large and small throughout our community," Cary mayor Harold Weinbrecht said.

Kimley-Horn is moving into the old Bank of America Plaza in downtown Raleigh on March 18.
