Citrix's global layoffs impact Raleigh
Citrix has announced global layoffs within the company and confirms to ABC11 that some employees at the Raleigh location have been laid off.

RALEIGH, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Citrix has announced global layoffs within the company and confirms to ABC11 that some employees at the Raleigh location have been laid off.

The software company said it would not share the number of impacted employees globally, or in any specific location, out of respect for those impacted.

"These decisions, although difficult, allow us to accelerate our transformation and to reinvest in the new skills, teams and business processes throughout the organization that will ensure that our company continues to grow and deliver long-term value for our customers, partners, employees and shareholders," Citrix said in a statement Wednesday.

An employee in Raleigh, who was laid off, told ABC11 that they were offered severance packages, but said it was "very difficult."

Citrix did say that Raleigh remains a strategic location for the company.

"The area possesses great technology talent and is an attractive location for our employee population," the statement said in part. "We remain invested in the community - for example, we continue to offer STEM scholarship opportunities at local universities, and are making and continue to make many roles there global Citrix roles, not just ShareFile roles."
