OXFORD, N.C. (WTVD) -- There's been a shake-up inside the Granville County School System.
School board members announced Wednesday evening that embattled School Superintendent Tim Farley handed in his resignation.
The announcement came after a closed door meeting.
Board members said Farley will be paid a one-time $300,000 as well as an $18,000 annual supplement.
His resignation comes after an audit last month cited problems with how the school system handled his contract.
Farley did not attend Wednesday's meeting.
His resignation becomes effective June 30, and he will be on leave through that date.
The school board appointed Assistant Superintendent Dorwin Howard as interim superintendent.
