No school Friday for 3 Overhills schools due to water problem
Overhills Elementary, Overhills Middle and Overhills High will be closed Friday due to a water pressure problem.

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Harnett County School leaders have cancelled class Friday at three schools due to a water pressure problem.

Overhills Elementary, Overhills Middle and Overhills High will be closed Friday.

Harnett County School officials sent out the following message to parents and children:

"Due to continued concerns about water pressure in the Overhills attendance area, there will be no school for the following schools on Friday, September 5, 2014: Overhills Elementary, Overhills Middle, and Overhills High. All other Harnett County Schools will operate on a regular schedule. Staff at the three affected schools will observe an optional teacher workday. Details regarding a make-up day will be forthcoming. Thank you for your continued support of Harnett County Schools. Again, this is for the 3 Overhills schools only."

Administration members said staff had prepared to use bottled water and had put all of the safety measures in place at the schools, but there was still concern about possible water pressure issues. School officials felt it best not to take the chance and give those working on the lines a "long weekend" to handle the issues.

The schools dismissed early Thursday due to loss of water pressure in the Overhills area.

All other Harnett County schools will operate on their regular schedule.
