Local singer to appear on 'Rising Star'

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A local woman will appear Sunday night on the debut of ABC's new music competition show called "Rising Star."

Eighteen-year-old Summer Collins, who is from Fayetteville, will be one of the contestants.

She reached out to ABC11 on Facebook and told us, "I am stoked for this amazing opportunity and happy that I have an amazing hometown behind me."

Collins is in the process of transferring to East Carolina University where she will study music.

"I'm just treating the Rising Star stage like any other gig, it's going to rock," she said.

You may recognize her name because she has done some local performances at various events.
