Raleigh family to be on AFV
The Hatley brothers will be on AFV on Sunday night

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A Raleigh family's home video will soon be seen by other families all across the country on "America's Funniest Home Videos."

It all started with an older brother's lesson to his baby brother.

"We were just hanging out in the backyard and I just happened to have my phone with me," explained Raleigh mom, Dee Hatley.

She then explains how she resisted her initial motherly instinct and kept the camera rolling as her youngest son, Zane (then just a year and a half) apparently was confused on how to blow dandelion seedlings into the air. Zane instead ended up eating the weed, much to his brother Calvin's amusement.

Raleigh family to appear on AFV

"It was one of those moments where I just stood back instead of immediately trying to get it out of his mouth. So yes, and you can hear Calvin even saying on the video 'we have to send this to AFV!'" she recalled with a laugh.

The show is the family's favorite program on TV, although they'd never submitted anything before. Still, they took a shot and sent it in this past December, but didn't hear anything back until just this week.

"I really wanted mom to just put it on video of him blowing a dandelion for memories, but then he just ate it! And now I'm going to be on national TV, with Zane!" exclaimed an excited Calvin.

Although the family is not in the running for one of the cash prizes, they will get a t-shirt from producers. Meanwhile, older brother Calvin gets bragging rights with his 8-year-old classmates, and he has quite a story to tell little Zane when he gets older.

The show is airing on ABC11 this Sunday at 7 p.m.
