The City of Raleigh hosts its first community festival at Dorthea Dix Park Saturday

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The City of Raleigh hosts its first community festival at Dorthea Dix Park Saturday July 22, from 10am-7pm.

There will be 25 food trucks, a beer garden, kids zone and water play area, public art installations, 3 stages with 14 local bands and more! Yes it will be hot! But the city has free water stations and lots of shade. Everything is free except the food and drink you buy there. You can bring a picnic.

Here's a big thing to know: there is no parking at Dorthea Dix during the festival. There will be 40 shuttles bringing people in from 7 locations around downtown and NC State. Here are the pickup points:

Downtown Collection areas:

  • Red Hat Amphitheater Collection Area: Lenoir Street between Dawson and McDowell (Fed from the PAC deck, County Deck, and Municipal Deck)
  • Cabarrus Collection Area: Cabarrus Street between Wilmington and Blount (Fed from City Center deck)
  • Capital Collection Area: bus lane on Wilmington Street just north of Morgan (next to NC Department of Transportation building)(Fed from Moore Square Deck and Wilmington Station Deck)

NSCU Collection Areas (collection area dedicated for each parking deck/lot):

  • Cates Av between Jeter and Jensen - South side of Coliseum Deck
  • Varsity Drive and Main Campus Drive - north of the Venture Deck
  • Main Campus Drive between Partners Way and Varsity drive - west of Partners way deck
  • Initiative way between Oval Drive and Oval Drive - West side of surface lots
