RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Wake County Human Services is offering free car seat checks for Child Passenger Safety Week, in partnership with Safe Kids Wake County.
Parents and caregivers are learning how to correctly install car or booster seats and how to make sure they are using them correctly.
"Risking the safety of future generations by letting children ride unrestrained is not acceptable," said U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx in a news release from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. "Seat belts and car seats save lives, and need to be used on every trip."
The Administration's newly-released "2015 National Survey of the Use of Booster Seats," found about 37 percent of children ages 4 to 7 years old were not being properly restrained.
