Susan, the blonde on the right, lives in Los Angeles. She thinks she's at the Griffith Observatory for a marketing job.
Susan smiles when she hears an a capella group singing ''Seasons of Love'' from her favorite musical, ''Rent.'' This version, though, is a little different.
Omar--who planned this elaborate proposal, including rewriting the lyrics to the song--is waiting for his cue behind a nearby door.
Susan eventually realizes the personalized song is for her and recognizes several of the people pouring onto the roof.
She makes the most of the unexpected serenade by dancing along.
She hugs her loved ones as the group continues to sing. Omar said he asked Susan's family for her hand before asking them to help with the surprise.
Omar enters right on cue. The couple haven't seen each other in four months because Omar lives in London.
He said the hardest part of planning this was keeping Susan oblivious, as the two talk every day.
It is clear from her face, though, that he pulled off the surprise successfully.
Omar joins in the singing and also leads Susan in a dance, spinning her around.
Susan has a priceless reaction when she hears the group sing, ''Let's celebrate because they're about to get engaged.''
When the song ends, Omar has sweet words for Susan: ''You are the most beautiful, funny, thoughtful and inspiring woman I've ever known and I ever will know.''
All that's left is to get down on one knee.
Her answer is a very enthusiastic ''Yes!''
Friends, family and onlookers cheer as the two kiss.
''She said yes!'' The groom-to-be says after pulling off his elaborate surprise proposal.
The two are so excited it takes them a moment to remember the ring.
Susan excitedly announces to the next rooftop over, ''I'm engaged!'' before laughing and amending herself: ''We're engaged!''

5,437 miles and two months of planning make for one ecstatic bride-to-be.

Omar Kenawi managed to keep his girlfriend none-the-wiser during the whole process, despite the fact that the two speak every day. Omar, living in London, was ready to propose to Susan, his girlfriend in Los Angeles. His elaborate plan included watching "Rent" (Susan's favorite musical), rewriting the lyrics to "Seasons of Love," asking her family for her hand in marriage, enlisting help for a flash mob, setting up a fake marketing job and planning a trip for himself to the United States.

All his planning paid off, and his proposal went down without a hitch, making for a heart-warming video.
