If you think senior centers are just for those 55+, think again. Services on everything from free computer repair to free tax preparation at tax time are just a few of the services and programs any adult can take advantage of at places like the Five Points Center For Active Adults in Raleigh.
"It's not only for seniors on a budget, but everybody come and check us out," explained Susan McFarland. McFarland is with the Raleigh Parks and Cultural Resources Department, and she points out the gym facility at the Five Points Center is available to anyone who would like to use it.
"That's free, that's free for everybody," McFarland said. "You don't even have to be 55 to use it, you can be under 55, anybody can fill out a registration form, but it's a great room," she said.
McFarland says the free computer repair is available on Monday mornings before the senior tech education class begins.
There's also a ballroom for rent for between $70-$210 per hour.
"We've had some gorgeous weddings here," McFarland said.
"A lot of people rent out the ballroom. It's quite large. It can accommodate 150-175 people for a sit-down meal for a wedding reception. We've had anniversaries, retirement parties, it's very nominal compared to other stuff," she said.
The Five Points Center For Active Adults also offers Meals On Wheels lunches. For more information on the facility click HERE
