The City of Raleigh is accepting applications for summer camp scholarships

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Applications are now being accepted for the Give Play Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for multiple nature and outdoor themed camps in Raleigh.

"There's an adventure camp called paddle sports where kids will be kayaking, canoeing, that sort of thing," explained Eliza Kiser, Director of the Pullen Arts Center.

"All the camps are nature or outdoor themed. My personal favorite, because I work there, is Art For Fun Too," she said. "It's an art and nature camp at Walnut Creek Wetlands Center, where kids who already have an interest in arts will have an opportunity to be in nature be in a natural setting and go out and sketch go out and paint, go out and make installation art from natural things they find around the wetland center."

Give Play is an initiative supported by the City of Oaks Foundation and the City of Raleigh Parks Recreation and Cultural Resources Department. The Initiative's goal is to remove cost as a barrier for getting youth engaged in park programs July 25-29. Youth ages 7-16 are invited to participate.

Campers will explore various disciplines of science, including agricultural and environmental life sciences, biological sciences, engineering, and physical sciences.

Participants that are accepted will not be charged. There is a $10 cash deposit required, which will be refunded upon completion of the camp week.
