Apply now for summer jobs in Raleigh.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- If you are looking for a summer job, spring is the time to apply with the City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department. The city of Raleigh hires more than 500 summer employees to work in a wide variety of positions including summer camps, community centers, and aquatics facilities.

"It's a great way to get your foot in the door with our department and learn a little bit about responsibility with that first-time job," explained Ken Hunt, Teen Program Director with Raleigh Parks, Recreations, and Cultural Resources.

City officials say summer jobs include cashiers, lifeguards, recreation aides and score keepers, which accept applicants 15 years or older. Age requirements for other positions vary.

"There's age requirements for each position," Hunt said.

"Generally, for camp staff it's going to be 17 and up," Hunt said. "So, graduating seniors or even college kids or students are perfect for that job.

"But, we also have some positions perfect for 15- and 16-year-olds as well. There's some cashier positions available as well as some positions with our amusements and lakes as recreation aides," Hunt said.
