DURHAM (WTVD) -- Move Loot is on the move in the Triangle, opening a Durham warehouse in September with the goal of changing the way you buy and sell used furniture.

"It's furniture and home decor," explains Durham Move Loot GM Mike Althoff. "It's the first curated full service online marketplace for people to buy and sell used furniture strictly here in the Triangle."

Getting your items into the warehouse is simple and free as Raleigh resident Kimberly Layton is discovering.

"We read an article in an online local newspaper and we went online," said Layton. "We actually downloaded the app, so we listed our furniture and got an immediate response."

Layton is selling a sofa and a few chairs and says the free service is making all the difference.

"Move Loot will actually come and pick up your furniture, which is important for us," explained Layton. "We have three young children and not a lot of time to spend on consigning furniture we no longer need."

Althoff says convenience is part of their mission.

"Our full-time employees come and pick up the items from the home and deliver it to the warehouse, he said. "At that point, we bring the piece into the warehouse. We clean it, professionally photograph it, and it gets stored until it sells."

Pick up and storage are all free and sellers get a check for half the selling price. For buyers looking for a deal on used furniture, the online shopping experience is just also simplified.

"This is a designer piece that an interior designer is selling through us," explains Althoff as he points to a custom end table in the warehouse. "I think customers are really excited about the convenience of it."

In addition to online viewing of merchandise, shoppers can also view inventory at Move Loot's Durham warehouse on the last Saturday of every month when the warehouse opens doors to the public.

"What they can do is come browse our items," said Althoff. "It's furniture, so, some people want to see it want to touch it before they buy it and we recognize that. This is definitely not a retail space, its a warehouse, and we want to open it to the public."

Anything purchased over $99 dollars also gets free delivery from Move Loot.
