Retailers offer deals for teachers, nurses
From free treats to savings, retailers are showing appreciation to teachers and nurses.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- In honor of National Teacher Appreciation and Nurses Week, many of us are saying thank you with gifts and treats.

Retailers are also doing their part to show their gratitude with a few freebies and special discounts.

Participating Cinnabon locations are giving nurses a free treat through May 12 with a valid health care ID.

Some Chick Fil-A and McDonald's locations are taking part in specials for teachers through May 8. Free items range from an iced coffee to sandwiches. You do need to check with your nearest location to confirm they are taking part in the promotion.

Johnson and Johnson has numerous free items for nurses ranging from promotional posters and podcasts or free "We dare to care" pins.

Banana Republic, Talbots, and The Limited, are all giving teachers 15 percent off purchases with a valid school ID.

Arts and crafts store AC Moore will give 20 percent through May 9.

Other arts and craft stores like Joann Fabrics and Michael's also give between 15 and 20 percent year round to teachers who enroll in their rewards programs.

Furniture store West Elm also gives 15 percent off to teachers and students who register in their club.

Fed Ex has a national educators discount program year round offering 15 percent off after enrollment.

Staples has a teacher rewards program giving discounts and free shipping on many items.

Some Red Hot and Blue restaurants in North Carolina, Maryland, and Virginia are offering 20 percent off meals through May 12.
