MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Triangle orthodontists are offering discounts for new patients during National Orthodontic Health Month.

October is all about going pink and candy for the kids with Halloween, but for orthodontists like Dr. Robert Nay, it's about something else.

"October is National Orthodontic Health month," he said.

So all month, some orthodontists are working to promote oral health and awareness with things like candy buybacks and evaluations.

"At age seven, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends all children have an orthodontic evaluation by the age of seven," Nay explained. "So, at that time what we are trying to do...our goal is to find the appropriate treatment at the appropriate time."

While many people will need braces in their lifetime, it's not just about younger patients.

"Now, we're seeing that one out of every four patients are adults," Nay said. "And, a good majority of them come in and they're really wanting to have Invisalign."

And, if it's time for someone you know to get braces, this month you can stretch your dollar.

While some insurance plans cover a portion of braces, the cost can make it out of reach for many. But, by taking advantage of zero interest payment plans many doctors offer, it can help with your budget. Also, this month you can also snag an extra savings at Nay's Morrisville practice.

"With October being National Orthodontic Health Month, and, because it's the 10th month of the year, what we're doing is, we're running 10-percent off all treatments started in the month of October," said Nay.

That 10-percent discount applies to all treatments.
