Thrift 'n Gift in Cary holds Dollar Days shopping
Thrift store that funds non-profits hopes to raise money by pricing many items for one dollar.

CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- When you step into Thrift 'n Gift in Cary, you realize it is nothing like a typical dollar store with thousands of square feet and endless aisles of items. But, Friday and Saturday, Thrift 'n Gift will be all about its Dollar Days - when many items are marked down to just a buck.

"We are blessed with a lot of donations," said George King. King co-founded Thrift 'n Gift in 2013.

"We're coming up on one year being here, so we are doing the Dollar Days sale," King explained "It's everything that is regularly priced, clothes, pocket books. All the shoes are $1. We're trying to give away as much through a dollar as proceeds as we can."

Thrift 'n Gift funds local non-profits by selling donated items. The store has clothing, toys, sporting goods, and furniture among other items. In this sale, you will find nearly all of the men's, women's, and children's clothing marked down to $1.

"Our desire is to take our profits and give them back to other non-profits that don't have a funding model that are struggling with money," said King.

A portion of the two-day Dollar Days sale will benefit a Triangle non-profit called Hope Connection.

"Hope Connection addresses needs in the community - children and families in crisis. It also provides emotional and physical support for them and connects them with other people who have been through the same thing," explained King.

In addition to the dollar items, there are also some racks with special priced clothing. These are the higher end items and they are also going to be marked down.

"We have special priced clothes and shoes that are really really high end. So, we are going to sell those at 50% off," said King.

Thrift 'n Gift will be open for Dollar Days from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. It is located at 900 East Chatham Street in Cary. (919) 651-0482.
