Dole recalls bagged spinach due to possible salmonella contamination

NEW YORK -- More than 33,000 bags of Dole spinach are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.

The bags of spinach were distributed to 13 states: Connecticut, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Wisconsin.

The Dole bagged spinach that's affected has the product code A27409B & A27409A, with an "Enjoy By" date of October 15 and UPC 7143000976.

The product code and enjoy by dates are in the upper right-hand corner of the package.

Dole said no illnesses have been reported, but a sample of Dole Spinach salad tested positive for salmonella during a random sample test by the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development.

Baby spinach and other types of Dole salad are not included in the recall.

Retailers and consumers with questions may call the Dole Food Company Consumer Response Center at (800) 356-3111, which is open 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (PT) Monday - Friday.
