Food Truck Rodeo draws huge crowd
A Raleigh food truck rodeo drew thousands to Fayetteville Street on Sunday

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo is back! On Sunday afternoon, more than 50 food trucks from across North Carolina lined the streets of downtown Raleigh, and thousands of people waited in line to get a taste.

Whether you're a self-proclaimed foodie or just went for the experience, the Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo had something for you.

"I really like the food because every time we come it's always something new we can try!" said Jasmine McKoy of Raleigh.

Sunday was opening day for Cousins Maine Lobster's Raleigh food truck. The family-owned business was featured on ABC's "Shark Tank".

"We've been waiting two hours and 15 minutes to get our lobster," said Debby Boozer of Raleigh while waiting in line for her lobster roll.

"My cousin and I started it- that's the 'cousins' part- we're from Maine," said Jim Tselikis. "We started with one truck and two and a half years later we have 14 trucks throughout the country."

Tselikis told ABC11 what Sunday's big seller was.

"The most popular item has been our Connecticut Roll which is Maine Lobster, sauteed in butter, inside our buttery toasted bun that's also from Maine with a little bit of warm drizzled butter on top," Tselikis said.

Many said that bite of New England was well worth the wait.

Just like the other food truck fare that had thousands filling the city streets, licking their chops, tasters looked forward to one thing:

"That first bite. If it's like really good, that first bite, then it makes me want to think about it again and again," McCoy said.

If you missed Sunday's Food Truck Rodeo, it's coming back to downtown Raleigh on June 14, August 9, and October 11.
