High school football players charged with rape

LITTLETON, North Carolina (WTVD) -- The Halifax County Sheriff's Office has charged two male students with raping a female student in a school locker room.

Sheriff Wes Tripp said 18-year-old Raquan Marquest Boswell and 16-year-old Jesse Jyrell Alston are both charged with first-degree rape.

According to arrest warrants, the incident happened Wednesday.

Tripp would not say where it happened, but high school sports websites list both teens as football players at Northwest Halifax High School.

The Halifax County School District told ABC11 that administrators are cooperating with authorities.

"The district has zero tolerance for any such behavior," said the district's spokesperson Chatesha Dickens. "The safety and well-being of all students is our priority."

While Boswell remains in jail, Alston was released after posting the $50,000 bond.

Both teens are scheduled to appear in court in November.

Tripp said the investigation by his deputies and school resource officers is not over and more arrests are possible.
